Why isn’t my shoulder pain going away?

Living with shoulder pain is unacceptable, call today to regain you life free from pain

Shoulder pain can have a lot of different causes that are not due to an underlying disease. Examples can include overuse, lack of use, a sprain, a strain or even sleeping on that side too much.  But, if you cannot lift your arm above your head without discomfort, anything from a frozen shoulder to a rotator cuff injury to a dislocated shoulder could be to blame.

Shoulder pain is a common ache in the U.S. By some estimates, as many as 67% of people experience shoulder discomfort at some point over the course of their lives. The most mobile joint in your body, the shoulder is made up of bones held in place by muscles, tendons, and ligaments. They are all designed to work together to allow the shoulder to move freely in many different directions. This allows you to do everything from raising your arms over your head to throwing a baseball and scratching your back.

When is it time for me to schedule an appointment for my shoulder pain?

This can be a tricky question for most people the answer is when you noticed you have had it for a few days, and it is just not going away.

Can neck pain cause shoulder or arm pain?

Yes, it can cervical radiculopathy, commonly called a "pinched nerve," occurs when a nerve in the neck is compressed or irritated where it branches away from the spinal cord. This may cause pain that radiates into the shoulder and/or arm, as well as muscle weakness and numbness.

How does R2 Medical diagnose shoulder pain?

When you come in for your initial visit to R2 Wellness Centers our team will complete medical history. One of our medical professions will perform an orthopedic exam typically ordering x-rays. Armed with this data a plan of attack can be determined to treat your shoulder dysfunction.

Typical treatments for shoulder pain can include our functional rehabilitation program, physiotherapy, and chiropractic adjustments. Most patients can expect to experience relief within weeks, while other results can vary depending on the phase or shoulder dysfunction.

Here are a few success stories from patients who came in with shoulder pain:

“Rather than go thru rotator cuff surgery I tried R2 Wellness Centers to try to heal shoulder inflammation. Had a tear in the rotator cuff and tendonitis-bursitis & fluid on every muscle as shown on an MRI.  I was less than convinced this would work but it was a shot I was willing to take before my “anticipated surgery”. As it turns out I was wrong and not doing surgery and have a complete range of motion back. I need more strength in the muscle group but with time and exercise I believe I will be 100 % I owe it all to Dr. Casey Walker and his group!!!” ~Brett

"I needed a total reverse shoulder replacement surgery I am in rehab now and the results so far have been amazing. My pain is almost gone, and my range of motion has increased considerably. I highly recommend R2 Wellness Centers in Lowell. " -John
